Ingredient company RIBUS opens new production facility in Nevada

Ingredient manufacturing company RIBUS Inc. has opened its first solely owned and operated production facility. The 15,000-square-foot plant near Reno, Nevada is organic- and kosher-certified and will increase the company’s production capacity of clean label ingredients by 300%.

RIBUS (Rice Ingredient Business United States), previously based in St. Louis, opened its new plant in Sparks earlier this month. Other certifications, including non-GMO, gluten free and halal certifications are pending, according to a news release.

RIBUS, founded in 1992, supplies plant-based natural and organic rice ingredients to food, beverage, dietary supplement and pet companies around the world. Through patented processes utilizing the entire grain, RIBUS adds natural protease enzymes to rice bran to stabilize the lipase enzymes, creating a natural, hypoallergenic ingredient that binds oil and water.

“Having our own plant gives us increased capacity and control over making changes that are needed in the marketplace,” Steve Peirce, co-founder and president of RIBUS, said in the release. “Some of these changes may include different package sizes, different particle sizes and new, innovative ingredients.”

RIBUS’ Nu-FLOW ingredient, also known as “The Synthetics Replacer,” gives allows manufacturers to replace synthetics or other anti-caking agents including silicone dioxide and tri-calcium phosphate (or talc) with a natural or certified-organic ingredient.

The plant will produce Nu-FLOW and other clean label ingredients including Nu-RICE and Nu-BAKE.

RIBUS works with well-known global food and beverage corporations and its ingredients can be found in everything from snacks to spice and seasoning products, according to the release.
