Food safety specialist to debut new technology at Pack Expo
Fortress Technology will debut its new X-ray inspection system at Pack Expo 2024, set for Nov. 3-6 in Chicago.
The ICON X-ray system is equipped with internal view cameras and an integrated automatic reject device to optimize floor space, according to a news release.
Featuring the company’s proprietary IA+ detection algorithm, the ICON X-ray provides processing and detection capabilities for variable-density products. Incorporating networked data capture and reporting options, the system can adapt to future machine learning software, according to the release.
“With our full catalogue of customizable equipment and digital tools, the current and future possibilities for streamlining food safety, quality control and traceability are now limitless,” Steve Gidman, Fortress president, said in the release.
Other highlights of food safety specialist’s 16 exhibits — the largest showcase in the company’s history — will include the global debut of the Raptor BBK combination metal detector and checkweighing system. The system inspects for metal contaminants and verifies the weights of large bags and cases, such as sacks of pet food, garden supplies, packaged foods, grains and large case applications weighing up to 55 pounds, according to the company.
The Raptor BBK features an optional roller ball reject conveyor to mitigate workforce lifting and repetitive strain injuries.
The company will also present its latest developments in data reporting to advance traceability for food processors.
