Products achieve machine vision and imaging standard certification

Five products have been certified as standard-compliant at the Fall 2023 PlugFest, a testing and validation event of machine vision and imaging hosted by the Association for Advancing Automation (A3) and Teledyne DALSA.

The products were certified to Camera Link HS and GigE vision standards at the International Vision Standards Meeting, held Oct. 17 in Toronto, according to a news release from A3.

PlugFest is designed to help validate the interoperability of products against the standards requirements.

“Vision standards make machine vision and imaging technology much more accessible to end users by providing a defined model that allows for more effective use of vision technology, which in turn means larger potential markets for individual manufacturers,” Bob McCurrach, director of standards development at A3, said in the release. “These standards also help create a tighter community, which helps proliferate the technology and better serve the vision community.”

The 2024 PlugFest is slated for the spring IVSM in Tokyo on April 16. The meeting will be hosted by the Japan Industrial Imaging Association and will cover GigE Vision, USB3 Vision, and CoaXPress, according to the release.

IVSM meetings are supported by the global G3 group, which comprises A3, JIIA, the European Machine Vision Association (EMVA), the Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA), and the China Machine Vision Union (CMVU).

Global automation advocate A3 promotes automation technologies and innovation, hosts events including the A3 Business Forum (Jan. 15-17, Orlando, Florida), Automate (May 6-9, Chicago) and the International Robot Safety Conference (Oct. 8-10, Memphis, Tennessee).

Members represent more than 1,250 manufacturers, component suppliers, system integrators, end users, academic institutions, research groups and consulting firms.
