New report offers industry operational insights

A new report by PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, found that consumer packaged goods (CPGs) and industry suppliers view productivity as their top priority.

The 2025 Embracing Operational Readiness report by PMMI, the producer of the PACK EXPO portfolio of trade shows, summarizes key issues, industry insights and recommendations from PMMI’s February Top to Top Summit.

More than three-quarters (78%) of participants voted for productivity as their top priority, followed by cost and automation (both 47%). Growth (39%) and workforce (24%) also attracted significant proportions of the vote.

The study found communication and collaboration between original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and end users help vertical startups succeed. Participants shared details about strategies for effective training, such as digital tools, follow-up assessments, automated systems, tailored learning formats, and digital solutions including AI-driven troubleshooting, interactive manuals and augmented reality.

“Technology is playing a growing role in all aspects of industry,” Jorge Izquierdo, PMMI vice president, market development, said in a news release. “Used strategically and safely, it can provide the means to create more efficient production.”

The report is available online for downloading.

Operational readiness solutions will be a focus of PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2025, set for Sept. 29–Oct. 1 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
