BioSafe Systems’ Larose dies at 40
Michael Joseph Larose, of BioSafe Systems LLC, has died at age 40. Larose, the eldest of the third generation of BioSafe’s founding family, died Sept. 21.
Born Sept. 28, 1982, in Hartford, Connecticut, Larose was the oldest son of Mary Ann Larose and his late father Robert Larose. The younger Larose is survived by his mother Mary Ann, sister Lauren Crane, and brother Matthew Larose, two nieces, a maternal grandmother as well as many aunts, uncles and other extended family members.
A 2007 graduate of Northeastern University with a Bachelors of Business Administration and a dual major in Finance & Marketing, Larose also attended Assumption College.
At BioSafe, Larose worked as a market segment manager in the family-run ag chemical business’ agrichemical division from 2008 to 2019 and previously in territory and business development for the western region. Before BioSafe, Larose worked in compliance enforcement and management for Fidelity Ethics & Regulatory Oversight in Boston.
Rob Larose, Mike’s father, started BioSafe in 1998 with his father Rene Larose. Rob Larose died Sept. 25, 2022, at 64. Lauren Crane is chief executive officer and Matthew Larose is retail technical and sales representative for the East Hartford, Connecticut, company.
Mike worked with BioSafe Systems in many capacities. He was instrumental in developing and growing multiple market segments of the company, especially agriculture. Mike took the role of “road warrior” and traveled extensively throughout the country, developing business relationships and attending tradeshows. In his most recent role, he developed content to bridge the gap between research and marketing, according to an obituary.
“Mike was committed to fulfilling the legacy of his late father, Rob Larose, through his work and his character,” the family said in a statement. “Mike was a kind-hearted, generous man and dedicated employee of the family business, and the weight of his loss is felt throughout the company.”
Michael Larose loved being with his family, friends, and co-workers, according to an obituary. As a child, he earned his own money raking leaves, mowing grass and shoveling snow. Larose was on the New Jersey State Select Soccer team and made varsity as a freshman. He was also a certified EMT and volunteered with the Marlborough Fire Department.
A Christian Mass is scheduled for Sept. 30 at St. Catherine of Siena in Simsbury, Connecticut, at 1 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at Simsbury 1820 House. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the ASPCA or the American Farmland Trust.
