United Fresh names 2014 Family Business Scholarship recipients

United Fresh Produce Association announced the four recipients of the 2014 Frieda Rapoport Caplan Family Business Scholarships: Nick Chappell, California Giant Berry Farms, Watsonville, California; Mary Griffin Campbell, Griffin Ranches, Somerton, Arizona; Tyler Phipps, Market Fresh Produce, Nixa, Missouri; and Cody Ramsey, Mann Packing Co., Salinas, California.

The scholarship program provides the opportunity for representatives from family-owned businesses to attend the United Fresh Washington Conference. The four scholarship recipients will receive complimentary airfare, hotel and registration to participate in the conference in September.

At the conference, scholarship recipients will have an opportunity to network with produce industry executives from across the country, as well as gain an understanding of the political process and how to advocate for their priority issues.

The Frieda Rapoport Caplan Family Business Scholarship Program was founded in 2001 by sisters Karen Caplan and Jackie Caplan Wiggins, in honor of their mother, Frieda Rapoport Caplan.
