FreshEdge adds Arkansas-based produce distributor to growing porfolio

Arkansas-based KT Produce has joined FreshEdge, a family of fresh food distribution companies backed by private equity investment firm Wind Point Partners.

Founded as Kimball & Thompson Produce in 2005, KT Produce provides fruits and vegetables to foodservice establishments including restaurants, schools, hotels, military bases and health care facilities throughout Arkansas, Oklahoma and southwest Missouri, according to a news release.

“Once we met FreshEdge, partnering with them became an easy decision,” Chris Thompson, KT Produce president, said in the release. “They share our desire and vision to steward this family business into its next chapter.”

The acquisition is FreshEdge’s fifth since Wind Point’s initial 2022 investment.

FreshEdge acquired Nebraska-based specialty produce distributor Greenberg Fruit Co. in November.
