FreshEdge acquires Nebraska-based specialty produce distributor
FreshEdge, a family of fresh food distribution companies backed by private equity investment firm Wind Point Partners, has acquired Nebraska-based specialty produce distributor Greenberg Fruit Co.
Founded in 1936, Greenberg has served foodservice and retail customers throughout Nebraska and western Iowa. Its offerings include fresh-cut products under its processing brand, Professor Fresh.
The acquisition expands FreshEdge’s Midwestern footprint and strengthens the Indiana-headquartered company’s supply chain, according to a news release.

FreshEdge now operates more than 1.12 million square feet of warehouse space across 29 facilities with a fleet of 1,041 trucks.
Greenberg joins a family of brands that includes Piazza Produce & Specialty Foods, Indianapolis Fruit, Get Fresh Produce, City Produce, McCartney Produce, Monteverde’s, Valley Produce, Vine Line, Garden Cut, CIBUS Fresh, Papania’s, Testa Produce, Panama Banana and Sirna & Sons.

Wind Point Partners acquired FreshEdge in October 2022.
