Ryan Foltz, divisional manager at BAADER, discusses their latest innovation, the TrueGrader 1810, a high-performance weighing machine capable of processing 250 pieces per minute with a +/- 1 gram accuracy.
With a focus on operational excellence, Foltz promotes collaboration between engineering and leadership, ensuring seamless execution and long-term success. Foltz bridges deep technical expertise with strategic oversight, leading complex projects across international teams. He also specializes in refining processes and translating intricate technical systems into clear, actionable outcomes.
Q. Can you tell us about the new weighing machine and what makes it stand out?
A. The TrueGrader 1810 is a great improvement to traditional belt weighing technology. Products are no longer placed along a moving belt that creates weighing inaccuracies. Instead, products are individually placed into cups that are independently weighed. The enhanced algorithm sorts and drops each item into a specific drop zone based on customer parameters. It offers advantages in speed, accuracy and target batching while maintaining a compact footprint. Additionally, the TrueGrader 1810 can operate in multihead weigher mode enabling processors to use one machine to sort, target batch and perform traditional multihead weigher tasks. Lastly, its straightforward operation and easy maintenance features further contribute to its overall value.

Q. What features or design elements make the machine versatile?
A. Our system offers two distinct cup designs: one engineered for fresh or sticky products and another suited for all other categories. Customers can seamlessly switch cup designs to accommodate diverse operational requirements. Accordingly, any product that fits within the cup can be sorted, batch-targeted or undergo both processes simultaneously.
Q. How does this new weighing machine fit into broader innovation strategy at BAADER for food processing equipment?
A. This machine is compatible with all food processing industries to facilitate product sorting and batching. While traditionally BAADER has focused on protein processing, our innovations in grading and sorting have proven our ability to provide sustainable solutions in all areas of food processing. Additionally, the machine incorporates the BAADER One Edge interface to support seamless integration within factory operations. This data capturing device is implanted within the machine to deliver real-time metrics to improve and monitor operations.

Q. What kind of feedback have you been receiving from the industry?
A. The TrueGrader 1810 is still being introduced to many customers and industries having only been released in January 2025. The machine will be presented with live demonstrations at numerous trade shows including Pack Expo, EATS Expo, and IPPE with great interest from attendees in various industries, including produce processors. Customer demonstrations within their facilities have generated highly positive global feedback. Most customers request to keep the demo machine and proceed with equipment orders.
Thanks to its experience across generations, BAADER designs solutions with sustainable value — helping people today, tomorrow and beyond. With innovation at the forefront, BAADER draws on the creativity and resourcefulness of its people to stay ahead of other market players. With close collaboration with its customer base, BAADER is taking steps toward greater efficiency, traceability, transparency, profitability and sustainability.
