Vidalia onion grower promotes long-time employee to shed manager
Third-generation Vidalia onion grower G&R Farms has promoted Fabian Murillo to shed manager. Murillo will oversee all day-to-day shed production operations, including onion storage, drying, production scheduling, inventory management, and supervision of more than 60 employees.
Murillo began working for G&R Farms as a seasonal worker at the age of 16 alongside his grandfather, David Murillo Sr., who served as the farm’s shed manager for more than 34 years. Murillo joined the company full-time in 2015 and has been promoted three times, according to a news release.
“Being part of the G&R Farms family has been a privilege for most of my life, and stepping into the role of shed manager is an incredible honor,” Murillo said in the release. “I’m excited to continue the legacy my grandfather began here over three decades ago, and I look forward to working with this amazing team to ensure we deliver the highest standards of quality and efficiency.”
In his most recent role as shipping manager and inventory control supervisor, Murillo streamlined operations, oversaw shipping logistics and maintained product quality standards. His strong leadership skills and deep understanding of the company’s operations have made him a natural fit for this new position.
“Fabian’s dedication and leadership have been instrumental to our success, and his promotion is well-deserved,” said Jon Dorminey, G&R Farms vice president of operations. “We’re excited to watch him excel in his new role.”
