Top 20 fruits and vegetables sold in the US

According to The Packer’s Fresh Trends survey, by the International Fresh Produce Association, 82% of consumers said they bought packaged produce in 2021.

Out of those consumers, 47% have discontinued online shopping and said the ability to touch and smell produce was the No. 1 driver.

In response to inflation, consumers said they are cutting back in other budget areas to continue the same amount and types of food (43%) or are buying less (30%).

These charts provide an overview of the most popular fruits and vegetables purchased in 2021, based on the percentage of primary shoppers buying in the U.S.

Notably in fruit, mangoes made the list at No. 19, after not being on the list the previous year.

In vegetables, bell peppers, broccoli and cucumbers all moved up on the list.
