Spartan Promotes Idea to ‘Buy Michigan’ Goods

Buy Michigan – a patriotic catchphrase boosters hope will help save the state’s ailing economy – got a big lift this week, with a major grocery distributor and the governor lending their support to the purchase of homegrown products.

Grand Rapids-based Spartan Stores Inc., the 10th largest grocery distributor in the U.S., launched its own “Michigan’s Best” campaign to promote more than 2,400 items produced in the Great Lakes State – everything from cherries to wine. Detroit News
