Rubyglow pineapple now available in US markets
Fresh Del Monte Produce’s Rubyglow pineapple, a red-shelled pineapple introduced in China in January, is now available in the U.S.
Grown in Costa Rica, the Rubyglow is a cross between a traditional pineapple and a Morada pineapple featuring a deep red outer shell, bright yellow flesh and a distinctive sweet flavor, according to a news release.
Rubyglow pineapples will be available nationwide from select regional grocers and online specialty produce retailers, according to the release. Pricing will be set by retailers.

Grown in Costa Rica after a 15-year development period, the Rubyglow pineapple has a registered plant patent in the U.S. It takes two years to grow each pineapple, which is then naturally ripened on the plant and sold crownless in elegant packaging.
The pineapple made its debut in China to coincide with Chinese New Year.
Rubyglow pineapples, like all Fresh Del Monte products, follow sustainable practices for planting, harvesting and transporting, according to the company.

Fresh Del Monte now offers a range of pineapple varieties, including:
- Del Monte Gold Extra Sweet, twice as sweet as traditional pineapple varieties with a golden flesh and available in multiple sizes, including the Grandissimo Gold grand pineapple.
- Honeygold, hand-harvested at peak sweetness and ripeness and available in regular sizes and smaller options including Mini Honeyglow and Precious Honeyglow.
- PINKGLOW, Fresh Del Monte’s proprietary bright pink variety.
- Del Monte Zero, carbon-neutral pineapples certified by SCS Global Services.
