Refrigerant management company expands services in Southern California

Refrigerant management company A-Gas has expanded its services in Southern California through its Rapid Exchange cylinder swap program.

A-Gas has worked closely with the Riverside, Los Angeles and other area communities since taking ownership of the Riverside Rapid Recovery exchange program in late 2022. Rapid Exchange’s cylinder swap program provides customers with vacuumed, in-date cylinders while helping to meet state and federal environmental regulations, according to a news release.

“Supporting Inland Empire businesses is something I’ve been passionate about for years,” Colleen Pearce, who is responsible for all Rapid Recovery and Rapid Exchange special projects in the Inland Empire, said in the release. “We’ve seen a real impact since we launched the Rapid Exchange service. We’ve saved our customers valuable time and gave them a new avenue to sell their used refrigerants. We look forward to continuing to give these vital businesses the tools they need, all while participating in the circular economy.”

A-Gas serves industries including food refrigeration and industrial and process cooling, managing the full life cycle of refrigerants for its global partners. The company safely reclaims millions of pounds of material each year, according to the release.

Its environmental initiatives help customers prepare for both the EPA’s AIM Act HFC phasedown and California legislation aimed at reducing the global warming potential of hydrofluorocarbons, according to the company.

“Californians have always been ahead in adjusting business practices to minimize negative impacts on the environment,” Michael Borchard, business development sales, said in the release. “With Rapid Exchange, it is easier for HVACR contractors to recover refrigerant gases, which prevents any harmful venting to the atmosphere.”
