Produce safety program, training available

The Georgia Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association is offering a full-service food safety consultation program for produce operations of all sizes.

Produce Food Safety Services (PFSS) is customizable and includes food safety plans, documentation and resources for growers, packers, shippers and processing operations throughout the U.S., according to a news release.

The association is also offering several upcoming in-person food safety training sessions.

The Produce Safety Rule: Cleaning and Sanitizing Workshop will be held Dec. 4 from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The workshop is for anyone in the industry who manages or implements the cleaning and sanitation of fresh produce operations.

Registration is available online.

A Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training will be held Jan. 9 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Fruit and vegetable growers interested in learning about produce safety, the Food Safety Modernization Act produce safety rule, and Good Agricultural Practices are encouraged to attend.

Registration for the course, offered in conjunction with the 2025 Southeast Regional Fruit and Vegetable Conference, is available online.
