Precious Honeyglow pineapple wins food innovation award

Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. won Overall Food Innovation of the Year recognition in the 2024 Mindful Awards for its new Del Monte Precious Honeyglow, a personal-sized fresh pineapple weighing less than two pounds.

The Mindful Awards highlight companies and products offering healthier choices with a focus on environmental and social consciousness.

The Precious Honeyglow pineapple, selected from among thousands of nominations worldwide across categories including food, snacks, beverages and supplements, is about half the weight of a traditional full-size pineapple and features an extra sweet flavor and a golden hue.

“Our product development is focused on offering convenient and enjoyable ways for consumers to incorporate fresh fruits and vegetables into their daily routines, but we also have a major emphasis on sustainability and eliminating food waste,” Melissa Mackay, Fresh Del Monte’s vice president of marketing in North America, said in a news release.

“We are honored to win the 2024 Mindful Award for Precious Honeyglow pineapples because it represents our commitment to quality, innovation and sustainability.”

Fresh Del Monte’s Honeyglow pineapple line is grown at specialty farms in Costa Rica, where the pineapples are left to mature and ripen naturally on the plant for a few extra days.
