Manzana Products Co.’s new organic apple processing facility in Yakima County, Washington, is nearing full operation.
Production at the facility, located in a 275,895-square-foot industrial building in Sunnyside, is slated to begin later this year, according to the Yakima Business Times, with the facility set to be completely online by mid-2027.
The project was announced in 2024, with Manzana CEO Andy Kay saying the company, founded in 1922, planned to move all its operations from in Sebastopol, California, to Yakima County.
“Washington is the “capital” of West Coast apple production, and we look forward to being in the heart of the bountiful Washington apple orchards,” Kay said in 2024.
Manzana has processed apples into apple sauce, cider and vinegar for more than 100 years in Sonoma County, California.
“Manzana fits perfectly in our agriculture and manufacturing cluster,” Port of Sunnyside executive director Jay Hester said in the 2024 announcement. “The facility will bring family wage jobs to Sunnyside and positively impact our community well into the future. We are grateful to have been a part of the recruitment process.”
