Mann Packing recalls snacks over salmonella concern

Mann Packing has voluntarily recalled some items in its vegetable platter and Snacks on the Go lines because the grape tomato ingredients may be contaminated with salmonella, the company reported May 2.

Mann Packing was alerted to the potential contamination by its tomato supplier, Six L’sof Immokalee, Fla.

Six L’s is recalling a single lot of grape tomatoes packed on April 11 that can be identified by Cherry Berry lot code DW-H.

The contamination was detected through a random sample obtained by the USDA at a distributor in New York. The tomatoes were grown at a farm in Estero, Fla. which has since ceased production. The strain of salmonella has not been determined and no illnesses have been reported.

The voluntary recall by Mann Packing includes the following items with best if used by dates ranging from April 23-30:

Small Vegetable Platter (universal product code 16519 01411-6)

Snacks on the Go with Celery, Carrots, Tomatoes (universal product code16519 01501-4)

Snacks on the Go with Celery, Carrots, Tomatoes (Canadian universal product code16519 01505-2)

Mann’s Large Party Platter (universal product code 16519 01405-5)

Vegetable Platter Large (universal product code 16519 01407-9)

The voluntary recall does not include any other products distributed by Mann Packing.
