Leafy Greens Board Releases Service Mark

The California Leafy Green Handler Marketing Board released a new service mark that will appear on the bills of lading of member companies.

The mark can be used beginning July 23, when compliance audits start, said Scott Horfall, CEO of the board. The mark is a business-to-business tool to inform buyers that the leafy green product complies with the most current GAP metrics accepted by the board.

There are 111 member companies, but the California Department of Food and Agriculture has extended the deadline for signup because of continued interest in the audits.

A certification mark that can be used on packaging will be introduced at a later date.
