JLS adds automation veteran to marketing team

Robotic packaging systems producer JLS has added an automation industry veteran to its marketing team.

Tom Pyper, the company’s new director of integrated systems and new markets, has worked in the packaging and automation industries for three decades. Before joining JLS, he served as Automated Systems Group business development manager at Applied Manufacturing Technologies.

Pyper also was president and owner of Eastech Inc., vice president and owner of Automated Motion, and in management positions at Caloris Engineering. Also a 14-year veteran of at Solo Cup Co., Pyper holds two patents: one for a bottom seal for containers, and another for a computer-controlled cup forming machine.

“Tom has a strong technical background and has done everything from running engineering to operations and sales functions,” Ken Harding, JLS vice president of applications and product management, said in a news release. “With his experience, the sales team at JLS will be able to further identify and pursue opportunities for growth and provide our customers with solutions that are even better customized to fit their needs.”  

Headquartered in York, Pennsylvania, JLS designs primary and secondary packaging systems for harsh sanitary environments.
