IFPA talks tariffs with White House officials
The International Fresh Produce Association board discussed industry trade and economic issues during mid-month meetings with White House officials.
Discussions focused on tariffs, including potential impacts on fruits, vegetables, flowers and plants. Board members emphasized the need for fair trade policies that protect growers, suppliers and consumers worldwide, according to IFPA.

In addition, the conversation covered deregulation efforts and opportunities for alignment with the Make America Healthy Again movement.
IFPA’s website includes additional information and resources, and members can submit tariff-related questions.
Earlier this month, the organization released a statement regarding tariffs which read in part: “IFPA is committed to advocating for policies that support fair and thriving international trade and will continue engaging with the administration, media and industry,” the organization said March 6. “Given the essential role of fresh produce in supporting Americans’ health and nutrition, IFPA will actively seek exemptions for these products wherever the implementation process permits. Additionally, IFPA will continue providing the administration with data on tariffs’ impact on the produce supply chain to inform policy decisions.”
