FreshEdge acquires Chicago-headquartered Testa Produce
Fresh food distributor FreshEdge has acquired Testa Produce, a Chicago-headquartered produce and specialty food distribution business.
FreshEdge is backed by Wind Point Partners, a Chicago-based private equity investment firm. The acquisition was announced in a May 2 statement on Wind Point’s website.
The deal closed April 29. Terms were not disclosed.
Testa has distributed fresh vegetables to customers in Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana for more than 110 years. Its 91,300-square-foot, LEED Platinum-certified facility features cutting-edge green technologies to utilize energy generation and water conservation, according to the release.

FreshEdge, with 2,000-plus employees, operates 899,800 square feet of warehouse space across 26 facilities with a fleet of more than 920 trucks. Its family of companies that includes Piazza Produce & Specialty Foods, Indianapolis Fruit, Get Fresh Produce, City Produce, McCartney Produce, Monteverde’s, Valley Produce, Vine Line, Garden Cut, CIBUS Fresh, and Papania’s.
