French lettuce cultivator Voie Verte benefits from new Kronen washing line

French company Voie Verte, which specializes in lettuce cultivation and sales, has installed a new washing line from Kronen to help optimize production.

The line was installed this spring in one of Voie Verte’s two production facilities by Industrade, German-headquartered Kronen’s French arm, according to a news release. The specially designed line is producing optimal results, even for heavily soiled lettuce, while processing larger amounts and different types of lettuce per day, according to the release.

Voie Verte, based near Lyon, cultivates and sells lettuce, spinach, bean sprouts, pumpkin and squash in supermarkets and its own stores as well as supplies caterers with raw produce and ready-to-eat products. In need of a gentle yet thorough washing process with low space requirements to be installed quickly, the company replaced its previous washing line with a trimming table and three GEWA 4000 B PLUS HELICAL washing machines by Kronen.

“We are extremely proud of the quality of the machines and the work performed by the Kronen and Industrade teams,” José Carrion, industrial director of the Voie Verte Group, said in the release. “The team of technicians worked in close cooperation with the different departments of our company to ensure that the product line was put into operation on time.”

The GEWA 4000 B PLUS washing machines are each fitted with an insect and fine particle removal system, a lateral fine particle removal drum and water management system, while the two front machines also feature Kronen’s water recycling system. The machines reduce water consumption and guarantee top-quality wash water, according to Kronen.

Voie Verte’s sales in its five shops are increasing and its production locations are continuing to grow in respond to demand for fresh-cut products, according to the release.
