Flexible packaging company launching new MAP products
Flexible packaging and material science company ProAmpac has partnered with sandwich manufacturer Sammi to launch fiber-based modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) for Sammi’s packaged products.
Sammi’s sustainable packaging options use fiber-based packaging from well-managed forests, replacing rigid plastic clam shells and extending shelf life, according to a news release.
ProAmpac is introducing its recyclable RAP Sandwich Wedge to the North American market in a joint effort to continue innovating the food-to-go packaging market, according to the release.
“Sustainability lies at the heart of ProAmpac’s business strategy,” Chad Murdock, president of ProAmpac’s fiber business, said in the release. “Our collaboration with Sammi underscores ProAmpac’s commitment to helping customers meet their sustainability objectives with high-performance packaging.”
The ProAmpac RAP Sandwich Wedge uses a carton board structure with a thin, transparent film liner to optimize product preservation and visibility, improve freshness, extend product shelf-life and minimize food spoilage, according to the release.
“Customers love that Sammi Sandwiches are not just healthy and delicious, but the fiber-based packaging is what truly sets Sammi apart.” Joel Simpler, Sammi founder, said. “The packaging also provides us with design and branding options that simply weren’t available before, like devoting an entire panel to why sustainability is important. Sammi offers sandwiches including Classic Chicken Salad, The Club, Honey Gold Ham & Cheddar, The Italian, and Smokehouse Turkey & White Cheddar, with the Vegan Chick’n Salad option coming soon. Products are available at retail locations including Dollar General stores across the U.S. or by contacting the company online.
ProAmpac’s food and beverage offerings include packaging for frozen foods, dry foods and snacks and liquid food.
