Duda Farm Fresh Foods recalls celery product because of listeria concerns

Duda Farm Fresh Foods has voluntarily recalled one production lot of washed and ready-to-eat celery sticks because of the possibility of Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

The affected product, Marketside Celery Sticks, has a best-if-used by date of March 23, according to a company recall posted to the FDA’s website.

The four-count, 1.6-ounce bag was distributed in 29 states and sold at certain Walmart sores.

The potential for contamination was discovered during random sampling by the Georgia Department of Agriculture from a Georgia store location where one of multiple samples yielded a positive test result, according to the company.

The product is no longer in stores, but consumers may have frozen the item for later use. Consumers in possession of the product should discard it.

To date, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the product, according to the recall notice.
