Conagra closing Birds Eye facility in Wisconsin
Conagra is closing its Birds Eye frozen foods facility in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, eliminating about 250 jobs.
A Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice filed April 8 listed the layoff date as June 10.
“We continually evaluate our overall network of food production facilities to ensure that we are operating as effectively and efficiently as possible so we can remain competitive as a company,” Conagra said in a statement. “We have determined that we can continue to meet the needs of the business by making these products in fewer facilities.
“Therefore, we informed employees that our Beaver Dam facility will close by the end of the summer, which will impact approximately 250 employees.”
The facility at 1201 Green Valley Road was built in 1972 and became part of Conagra Brands in 2018 when Conagra acquired Pinnacle Foods.
“This decision is not a reflection of the overall performance of our Beaver Dam team,” Conagra’s statement said. “We are committed to treating our employees respectfully and fairly throughout this transition, and we will offer severance benefits to employees.”
