Bowery Farming adds new sales executive as portfolio expands
Bowery Farming, a New York-based vertical farming and digital agriculture company, has named a new sales executive as its retail portfolio grows.
Matt Williams is the new chief sales officer for the company, which has added 400 new retail locations since the start of 2023.
Williams comes to Bowery from Tattooed Chef, a plant-based frozen foods company where he serves as chief growth office. He has also served as president at Beecher’s Handmade Cheese, senior vice president at Dean Foods and vice president of national accounts at Odwalla.
Founded in 2015 with indoor farms in New Jersey, Maryland and Pennsylvania, Bowery grows and delivers pesticide-free lettuce, leafy greens and herbs. Among the company’s produce offerings are packaged salad kits, lettuces, leafy greens and berries.
“Bowery is a fast-growing advocate for climate-smart foods and a company that I’ve long admired. I’m excited to join the team at such a pivotal moment,” Williams said in a news release. “As Bowery expands its geographic farm locations, retail footprint and grows its product portfolio, demonstrating leadership within CEA, I’m committed to supporting the company’s mission to reimagine the future of food.”
Bowery’s recent expansion includes Walmart stores in Florida, The Giant Co., Central Market, Rouses, King Kullen, and Amazon in North Carolina and Georgia, as well a variety of specialty and independent stores. The company doubled production capacity in 2022 and is on track to do so again in 2023, according to the release.
