Apples in storage for processing down 13%

U.S. Apple Association has issued its sixth report on the 2018 apple crop.

According to the survey, this year’s fresh apple holdings on April 1, 2019, totaled 51.2 million bushels, 12% less than the inventories reported for April 1 of last year. 

Processing holdings totaled 20.9 million bushels, 13% less than last year on April 1. 

The total number of apples in storage on April 1, 2019, was 72.1 million bushels, 12% less than last April’s total of 82.1 million bushels and 4% below the five-year average for that date.
