The Michigan Department of Community Health continues to investigate an outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 in the state that has sickened 34. The initial findings pointed to Detroit processor Aunt Mid’s Produce Co., but the company said Oct. 1 that independent laboratory tests have found no trace of E. coli O157:H7. The company continues to work with the state, including providing product samples and opening its facility up to various agencies investigating the outbreak.

Those sickened by the E. coli ingested it at a restaurant or institution, some of which were customers of Aunt Mid’s, which may have led to the company’s implication in the outbreak.
