2026 edition of Farmers’ Almanac will be the last
A 200-year farming tradition is coming to an end.The 2026 Farmers’ Almanac will be the last of its kind. Learn why.
Editor Sandy Duncan and editor emeritus Peter Geiger have announced this coming year’s publication will be the almanac’s final edition.
According to a statement emailed to The Associated Press and NBC’s The Today Show, the editorial duo cited “growing financial challenges” and today’s “chaotic media environment” as the main reasons for shuttering the annual homespun mix of weather insights, gardening tips and natural home remedies first published in 1818.
The Maine-based Almanac’s older, more well-known New Hampshire-based competitor, The Old Farmer’s Almanac, will continue to publish its eclectic mix of vegetable planting guidance and long-range weather predictions.
