Arctic Apples unveils new logo

Fresh Arctic Golden apple slices, the very first product from Okanagan Specialty Fruits (OSF), are about to hit select stores for U.S. test markets. In preparation, OSF has been transitioning to a revamped, more modern logo to represent our nonbrowning Arctic apple varieties.

In honor of the new logo launch, Arctic apples is providing background on how the name was chosen: Once the development of nonbrowning apple varieties was underway, OSF founder Neal Carter set to work brainstorming a proper name for these apples that would be strong, symbolic and descriptive. With the help of his family members, the name “Arctic” was determined to be an excellent fit because, like the snow-driven landscapes from which they draw their name, the flesh of Arctic apples is fresh, crisp and pristine, according to OSF.

The new logo retains these same elements, with a bit more of a bold, clean, and eye-catching appearance, according to an OSF press release.

OSF researchers create the non-browning apples by silencing polyphenol oxidase, the enzyme that initiates browning, according to the company.
