TOMRA to exhibit Halo sorter at PMA

TOMRA Sorting Solutions will be present at PMA Fresh Summit, Anaheim Convention Center, October 17-19.

During this largest trade convention and expo in the western hemisphere for fresh produce, TOMRA Sorting Solutions will demonstrate its Halo sorter.

The Halo is the company’s latest advancement in sensor-based optical food sorting for fruit and vegetables and sorts for quality, size and food safety. The food sorter is designed to combine intelligence with advanced control to provide sorting flexibility and accuracy in a reliable, long life, compact sorter.

Using top and bottom sensor banks to view each object in flight, the machine uses pulsed LED, CCD sensor and near-infrared technology to perform targeted spectroscopy with 1 mm precision.

The Halo views and analyses visible attributes, such as color, shape, blemish, foreign material and difficult-to-see defects. First-grade produce gently passes through the sorter while second and third grade is redirected precisely into individual streams by intelligent finger ejectors.

The Halo sorter offers users labor reductions of up to 80 percent. Your throughput will rise potentially 25 percent and your yield might increase with 4 percent, according to the company.
