Produce Marketing Association adds general manager for Mexico

The Produce Marketing Association (PMA) announced the hiring of Rubén Ramírez as PMA General Manager in Mexico, a full-time position. Ramírez will be a resource and in-country support for members of PMA and the industry at large, helping to connect them with PMA’s global community and information. His role will focus on being a point of contact for industry members in Mexico and facilitating important business connections in the produce and floral industries.

Ramírez, who has an educational background in international business, brings extensive experience and contacts in the produce industry having previously worked at NSF International, FreshKampo, and PrimusLabs. Additionally, he has a background in food safety and technology and impressive contacts throughout the Mexican produce industry.

PMA has been steadily growing its presence in Mexico over the past several years, offering a yearly Fresh Connections event and other more informal networking opportunities. This year’s Fresh Connections: Mexico was held in Guadalajara and featured former NASA astronaut and son of migrant farm workers, Jose Hernandez. The event attracted over 550 participants from across the produce supply chain with guests from Mexico, the U.S. and Canada. The Center for Growing Talent joined the event for the second year, hosting a Career Pathways program, pairing top university students with industry mentors and informing them on potential careers in the fresh produce and floral industry.  Additionally, CGT once again hosted its popular Young Professionals Coffee Hour geared towards helping produce professionals 35 years and younger to meet peers and expand their networks.
