New-look packaging design aims to reduce cost, plastic use
A packaging innovation from Lacerta Group is estimated to reduce costs by up to 25% while upending the look of traditional packaging.
The company’s new Seal N’ Flip design places the lidding film on the bottom, a move estimated to cut the use of plastic by up to 50%, according to a news release.
“Grab-and-go shelf real estate — especially in the refrigerated section — is highly competitive, so we designed the Seal N’ Flip packaging and stand to give brands a distinct edge,” Craig Muldrew, vice president of marketing for Massachusetts-based Lacerta, said in the release. “By using the stand to position products vertically to feature our unique back-facing lidding design, prepared foods are front and center, creating a standout, premium look that speaks to the way consumers shop: with their eyes first.”
Seal N’ Flip construction maintains packaging film benefits including tamper resistance, leak protection and a lower carbon footprint over the product’s lifecycle, according to the company.
Lacerta, which has provided custom and stock packaging solutions for food processors for more than 30 years, will display Seal N’ Flip at the International Dairy Deli Bakery Association show June 1-3 in New Orleans.
