Frozen vegetables recalled because of listeria concerns
Mount Vernon, New York-based Endico Potatoes is recalling Endico brand peas and carrots and mixed vegetables because the products have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The recalled products were distributed in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland, Florida and Washington, D.C. through local distributors between July 18 and Aug. 4, according to a Sept. 3 company announcement on the Food and Drug Administration’s website.

The product was packed in frozen, 2.5-pound clear plastic bags under the Endico label. The lot code of the affected product:
- Peas and carrots: lot 110625, production date 6/11/25, use by date 6/10/27
- Mixed vegetables: lot 170625, production date 6/17/25, use by date 6/16/27
No illnesses have been reported to date, according to the announcement.
Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
Sampling done by the state of Pennsylvania at a product distributor revealed that the finished products tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes, according to Endico. The company has ceased distribution of the product as FDA and the company investigate.
Consumers who have purchased affected products are urged to not consume them and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers may contact the company at 1-800-431-1398.
