E. Coli Found in Dole Salad, Recall Announced

Dole Fresh Vegetables voluntarily recalled its Hearts Delight salad mix Sept. 17 after a random sample at a Canadian grocery stored tested positive for E. coli O157:H7, according to the company. The Hearts Delight salad is a fresh-cut blend of romaine, green leaf and butter lettuce hearts. No other Dole products are part of the recall.

The affected product was sold in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritime Provinces in Canada and in Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and neighboring states in the United States. The bagged salads are packaged in half-pound bags at U.S. stores and 227-gram bags in Canada and have a “best if used by” date of Sept. 19. The production codes of the recalled salad are A24924A or A24924B and the UPC code is 071430-01038.

There have been no illnesses associated with the recalled Dole salad.
