New plant-derived biostimulant uses fungi to strengthen vascular systems
BioSafe Systems’ new biostimulant uses a strain of the fungi Beauveria bassiana, which kills a range of insects, to colonize plants from root to leaf.
Plant-derived BioPhyter supports crop vitality by improving key physiological functions within the plant, according to a news release. It strengthens plants’ vascular systems by maximizing nutrient distribution, photosynthesis and structural integrity to improve ability to withstand both abiotic and biotic stressors.
BioPhyter also supports integrated pest management strategies through natural anti-herbivory effects without negatively impacting beneficial insects.
“This new product maximizes the nutrient superhighway, delivering bioavailable nutrients to every leaf, stem, and flower, making it an ideal partner with LIVENTIATM soil microbes,” Jeff Kline, BioSafe Systems vice president of sales, said in the release. “BioPhyter empowers growers in agricultural and horticultural settings with a dynamic new tool to complement their pest and disease programs, fostering stronger, healthier crops.”
