Center for Produce Safety receives largest industry donation yet

Georgia-Pacific has donated $250,000 to the Center for Produce Safety (CPS) at the University of California, Davis.

It’s the largest donation CPS has received from an industry supplier.

The money will support CPS fresh produce food safety research, said Bonnie Fernandez-Fenaroli, the center’s executive director. In three years, CPS has awarded nearly $9 million and is funding 58 one- and two-year research projects at 19 universities and organizations. This year, an additional $3 million will be available for projects that will be evaluated through the organization’s 2012 request for proposals.

George-Pacific is a packaging supplier to the produce and other food industries.
