Temp-controlled rail shipper Cold Connect closed down by Union Pacific
Union Pacific has closed subsidiary Cold Connect, a cross-country, temperature-controlled perishable shipping operation.
Reported by Supply Chain Dive and other news sources, the closure comes amid COVID-19 effects, which have reduced volume. Cold Connect was a rail service that shipped perishables from the West Coast to the East.
A Union Pacific spokesman told Railway Age that employees were notified on May 8 and most positions have been eliminated.
