Sign-up now open for fruit ripening class

Registration is now open for the 24th Annual Fruit Ripening and Ethylene Management Workshop to be held on the University of California Davis campus on April 10 and 11, 2018

The UC Davis Postharvest Center said the workshop focuses on how to improve human health and increase profits by delivering ready-to-eat, delicious and safe fruits and fruit-vegetables to consumers.

“It is a unique opportunity for shippers and destination handlers as well as those in produce procurement, inspection, sales and marketing, quality assurance and customer service to learn the latest developments in ripening,” the center wrote.

 Subject areas include:

  • Ripening facilities & equipment
  • Maturity and quality relationships
  • Biology of ethylene production
  • Temperature management
  • Retail temperature storage conditions
  • Tools to control ripening and senescence
  • Ethylene inhibition and control

Demonstrations topics include:

  • Sensory
  • Quality measurements
  • Environmental equipment
