Presto Products expands resealable options for flexible packaging

Presto Products Company is providing several premium closure options to the frozen foods and dried fruits and snacks markets through its Fresh-Lock brand. The company says it has found consumers are willing to pay a premium for an upgraded closure, like a slider, on product packaging.

In 2016, Presto introduced the Reduced Scale (RS) Slider, intended for lighter-weight and smaller products such as frozen vegetables. The RS Slider is well-suited for stand-up pouch applications, according to the company.

Presto also offers additional sliding closures and zipper closure options under its Slide-Rite and Fresh-Lock brands.

Slide-Rite Ergonomic Slider

This slider is designed for hooded flexible packages requiring a low-profile slider. The design reduces drag force and makes sliding easy, according to the company. The Ergonomic Slider can be used for frozen foods as well as dried fruits and snacks, among other applications.

Fresh-Lock Click ‘N Lock Sensory Zipper

As its name shows, this zipper gives an audible noise that lets consumers know when the package is opened and securely closed.The texture between the double zippers can be felt as the bag closes, providing sensory feedback.

Fresh-Lock Ribbed Zippers

With lower sealing temperatures, film distortion is reduced, which improves the package’s appearance, according to the company. Presto’s patented co-extruded sealant ribs enhance the zipper’s sealability, with compatibility to a wide variety of packaging films, allowing for faster line speeds on vertical and horizontal form/fill/seal equipment as well as pouch machines that produce pre-formed pouches.

The zippers are available in a variety of sizes, from 4.6 mm (width) to 19.2mm.

Slide-Rite 2-Piece Track

The 2-Piece Track is designed for Horizontal Fill Seal hooded pouch operations, with bottom-fill or top-fill configurations. Various fin lengths are available to meet application needs, such as snacks and dried fruits.

Fresh-Lock Soft Seal Zippers

The zipper material must be “crushed” along a package’s side seals, according to the company. Zippers made with Soft Seal material require less time, temperature, and energy to crush, so converters achieve high quality seals without sacrificing cycle rates. Soft Seal material minimizes leaking, gap, and distortion.
