Potato industry golf fundraisers donates $93K to Ronald McDonald House

In spite of a challenging year on multiple fronts, the annual Ag World Golf Classic fundraiser raised $93,168 for Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The seventh annual event was originally scheduled to add a second date in 2020, but both the Kennewick and Moses Lake, Washington, dates were postponed from June to August due to COVID-19 restrictions. The Kennewick portion of the fundraiser eventually had to be canceled due to area COVID-19 gathering restrictions.

In May, Ag World Support Systems and fundraiser founder Warren Henninger suffered a fall at his home and died eight days later.

The Moses Lake portion of the fundraiser took place Aug. 13. Even with all the challenges, the event fell only a few thousand dollars short of its record donation from 2019. To date, more than $500,000 has been donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities Inland Northwest in Spokane.

“With COVID-19 restrictions and the passing of Ag World Support Systems and the Ag World Golf Classic’s Founder, Warren Henninger, it was uncertain if this charity tournament could be held this year,” said Melanie Finch of Ag World Support Systems and Warren Henninger’s daughter. “We are so grateful for the show of support this year both for our founder Warren Henninger and for the Ronald McDonald House Charities — both honoring Warren’s legacy and caring for those in need through giving to the House.”

This year’s Ag World Golf Classic was aided by 82 sponsors and donors and saw 133 participants.
