Branch to offer compostable corn trays

Branch: A Family of Farms will offer customers new compostable trays through the company’s year-round corn program.

“Three years ago we introduced our sustainer carton which replaced wire-bound boxes and today we are excited to offer our eco-friendly corn tray program,” said Brett Bergmann, president of Branch. “Our existing customers have received this item extremely well and we look forward to growing the program in the months and years to come.”

The new trays are moisture-proof, microwaveable and 100 percent compostable. The company said the new trays are also the perfect solution for retailers looking to offer customers more green solutions through their purchases.

Of the general grocery shopper population in 2018, those considered “responsible packaging shoppers” (an emerging, trend-setting segment of shoppers consciously making their purchasing decisions on packaging material) now make up 59 percent, according to the annual EcoFocus trend study. This number has increased 16 percentage points from 43 percent in the past five years, Branch said.
