Wendy’s Pulls Fresh Fruit From Menu

Wendy’s International pulled its fresh-cut fruit bowl off the menus of its 6,400 North American restaurants Nov. 1, because sales were lagging, according to a recent Reuters article.

The bowls and cups of fresh-cut melon, pineapple and grapes were introduced in February.

When they were introduced, Tom Mueller, president and COO of Wendy’s North America, said, “We’re giving our customers an easy, convenient way to add more fruit to their daily diet.”

Shortly after the launch of the products, Wendy’s said sales were exceeding expectations.

Wendy’s will continue to offer mandarin oranges in its restaurants.

Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. supplied Wendy’s with the fruit.

No one from Wendy’s returned phone calls.
