Waterleau Group acquires Ecovation, Krofta Technologies

Waterleau Group announced that it has completed the acquisition of the anaerobic biological wastewater treatment plant design-build business of Ecovation and the membership interests of Krofta Technologies and their DAF technology from Ecolab. With the acquisitions, Waterleau Group brings a 35-plus year track record of global wastewater and water engagements with food and beverage brands to the North American market, the company said.

The newly created organization Waterleau USA is based in Victor, New York, and its operations provide customers a single-source for customized anaerobic, aerobic and membrane wastewater solutions for the food and beverage industry..

Ecovation, now Waterleau USA, is a player in water and wastewater treatment offering design-build solutions to North American customers in various industries. Ecovation’s technology portfolio includes turn-
key solutions for aerobic as well as anaerobic biological wastewater treatment. Ecovation’s access to Waterleau Group’s portfolio of environmental technologies and services will allow Waterleau USA to expand its range of treatment solutions and strengthen its position in the North American market, the company said.

Krofta founded by Milos Krofta in 1953 and based in Dalton Massachusetts, designs and supplies dissolved air flotation (DAF) clarifiers for wastewater treatment and liquid-solid separation. The integration with Waterleau USA has several orders from U.S.-based food and beverage brands currently in process. Waterleau USA experts will continue to support the customers of the Ecolab organization, the company said.

In its latest acquisition, Waterleau Group is joined by BMI-SBI, the Belgian semi-public investment company co-financing and supporting this transaction.
