Track food safety alliance’s progress at new website

The Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA) has launched a website as part of its mission to develop industry training on preventive controls for hazards in FDA-regulated foods.

Operating with FDA funding and coordinated by the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Institute for Food Safety and Health (IFSH), the Alliance is designed to help the human and animal food industries comply with anticipated Food Safety Modernization Act regulations.

With participation from key industry, academic and government safe food production stakeholders, the Alliance is in the process of developing a nationwide core curriculum, training and outreach programs.

Visitors to the website can see what topic areas the five FSPCA Working Groups are exploring and volunteer to participate. There’s a spot to contribute reference materials, along with a list of upcoming relevant events.

“The FSPCA plans to include a wide variety of food categories and have subject matter experts volunteers help develop the course content on specific food category/representative food,” noted Purnendu C. Vasavada, Ph.D., FSPCA coordinator, in an email.
