State, UC Davis Partner on Food Safety

The California Department of Food and Agriculture and the University of California Davis’s Center for Produce Safety have agreed to work together to improve the Food and Agriculture Department’s grant and funding processes.

The state agency and the Center for Produce Safety’s first project together will be a specialty crop program that will award $15 million to make California crops more competitive. The Department of Food and Agriculture intends to dedicate a portion of that funding, from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, to food-safety improvement programs.
