Power Packs aimed at school foodservice

Freshway Foods has launched a new line of products for the school foodservice market, called Power Packs.

Power Packs are individually packaged fresh-cut fruits and vegetables for schools participating in the USDA Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. The product line includes a large selection of fresh produce, including regional and ethnic favorites.

“Power Packs are two-ounce snack packs that contain 100 percent usable product and do not require any cutting, cleaning or additional handling,” said Dan Purdy, vice president of sales and marketing. “This enables school foodservice departments to cut time and labor costs while maintaining food safety standards.”

The company also created a “Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Toolkit” which serves as a resource for school participation in the USDA program. Included in the toolkit are checklists and guides to participation, as well as promotional materials for students and parents.
