Placon Selectables, GoCubes aimed at foodservice market

Two new plastic packaging offerings from Placon are designed for the needs of foodservice packaging customers.

GoCubes are part of Placon’s Fresh ‘n Clear line, They are designed to give maximum versatility and more merchandising options than other stock thermoformed containers on the market, according to the company. The GoCubes disposable plastic food packaging line features five base sizes with a three-compartment universal insert tray that lets convenience stores to supermarket delis highlight specific ingredients while keeping food looking better and tasting fresher, longer.

GoCubes containers have a modern and non-standard “square” shape for versatility with an insert tray that lets you mix and match foods for a variety of pre-packed meal options for the grab-and-go market. For health-conscious consumers, portion-sized inserts offer convenience while letting customers mix contents to their liking, Placon said. Available in five sleek easy stacking sizes from 12 to 36 ounces the film sealable containers also offer a one-size-fits-all, clear recycled PET lid option with anti-fog technology.

Selectables is the newest line of sustainable food containers that have a custom packaging look with inserts that easily separate wet and dry foods for extended shelf life.

Encouraging impulse sales, the containers highlight the most appealing, high-cost or delicate foods, ensuring they never are hidden or sink to the bottom of the package.

Selectables are available in 7- or 9-inch clear or black stackable bases with capacities from 24 to 48 ounces. The one- to three-compartment, portion-sized inserts can feature everything from seasonal cut fruit and candied nuts to meats and cheeses.

GoCubes and Selectables are made from EcoStar post-consumer recycled PET from curbside collected bottles and thermoforms, making the plastic “disposable” food containers 100 percent recyclable.
