Key Technology Information Analytics

Key Technology Information Analytics is a powerful suite of software capabilities embedded within Key’s digital sorters. Enabling the collection, analysis, and sharing of data across the food processor’s enterprise, this intelligence is tailored to meet the specific needs of each customer. Information Analytics helps processors better manage their operations to produce their desired product quality while increasing yields and reducing costs, according to Key.

Three aspects are customized to meet the needs of each food processor – data collection, information analysis and data sharing. The flexibility of the system enables Key to design each sorter to collect, analyze and share the data in a manner that maximizes the value to each customer.

Equipped with Key’s Information Analytics, the sorter continuously collects and stores a variety of information about the sort process and the product flowing through the sorter, whether that data is used to make sort decisions or not. Data could include the objects’ dimensions, color and other image information, good product characteristics, defects and foreign material (FM) details, every aspect of the sorting operation such as detection activity of specific defect categories, ejection activity and more.

DynaClean Conveyors

Dynamic Conveyor Corporation announced the issuance to it by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office of a patent that gives the ability for quick conveyor belt access which is necessary for the accelerated cleaning process desired by the food processing and packaging industry.

The patent for invention number 8,919,541 is for a quick-release conveyor belt containment device that gives easy access to the conveyor belt and inner-components of the conveyor for quick and easy cleaning and sanitizing. Without the need for tools, components can be removed in a matter of minutes giving complete exposure to the inside of the food conveyor system.

The patented design includes a variety of custom configurations from horizontal to Z configurations, including the Vertical Z which offers a direct replacement for difficult to clean bucket conveyors. The design allows for savings to start with the initial investment and continue with short downtimes for cleaning, energy efficient maintenance-free motors and the ability to reuse components when needs change, according to Dynamic Conveyor.

Arbor Gladius 10 tablet

Arbor Solutions has introduced the latest model in its growing line of rugged Android tablets: the Gladius 10. The device features a large 10.1-inch TFT HD LCD display, an Octa-core Cortex A7 processor, assorted connections to stay in touch in today’s highly mobile world and a barcode scanner. The rugged unit is designed for applications such as warehousing, transportation, medical and mobile point of sale (mPOS). It will be available nationwide and in Canada May 2015.

The Gladius 10 is designed to be a rugged and durable tablet for many applications. It has MIL-STD-810G and IP-65 certifications, four-foot drop resistance, raised bezel for LCD impact protection and hinged rubber covers over the I/O ports. The unit will operate in temperatures ranging from 32°F to 113°F, and may be stored in areas where the temperature is between -14°F and 140°F.

The display is a TFT color LCD with 1280 x 800 HD resolution and a projected capacitive five-point multi-touchscreen. Exceptionally thin, damage-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating is applied to the screen for enhanced scratch resistance, reduced scratch visibility and better-retained strength once a scratch occurs. Sunlight readable with optical bonding and a high intensity backlight is available, when direct sunlight or high ambient-light conditions are a factor.
